Talk about a weekend to remember. While the country was busy celebrating on the sporting front, the National Lottery was quietly minting not one but two brand new Millionaires within 24 hours of each other - and if you bought a Quick Pick ticket in Cork recently, you'll want to sit down before reading any further.
It all kicked off on Saturday night, 25th July, when the Lotto Jackpot worth a whopping €8,221,849 was claimed by a player in Co. Offaly. We don't yet know exactly which shop sold that golden ticket, but the National Lottery has confirmed the retailer's details will be revealed on Wednesday, 29th July. Somewhere in Offaly, someone is walking around either blissfully unaware or trying very hard to act normal.
Then, as if one Millionaire moment wasn't enough excitement for a single weekend, Sunday afternoon brought a second. A lucky player in Cork picked up a Quick Pick ticket on the very day of the draw and turned it into a cool €1 Million top prize in the 2pm Daily Million draw on 26th July. The store that sold that ticket will be named tomorrow, Tuesday, 28th July - so Cork players, keep an eye out.
For anyone wondering, the winning numbers in that Sunday 2pm Daily Million draw were 1, 5, 15, 17, 23, 36, with a Bonus number of 18. You can always check the latest Irish Lotto Results to see how your own numbers stack up against recent draws.
National Lottery spokesperson Emma Monaghan summed up the whirlwind weekend perfectly, calling it "an unforgettable weekend for National Lottery players." She's now urging Daily Million players across Cork and Lotto players in Offaly to dig out their tickets and check them properly - not just a quick glance, but a proper look. As she put it, winners should sign the back of their ticket and "keep it somewhere safe" before getting in touch with the Prize Claims team.
If either of these winners happens to be you, the process from here is refreshingly simple. Just call the National Lottery Prize Claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie, and they'll sort out a time for you to collect your prize at Lottery Headquarters. If you're the type to overthink these things (no judgement), our no-panic guide to claiming a lottery prize walks through exactly what to expect.
It's easy to forget, amid all the jackpot excitement, that these games do a lot of good behind the scenes too. Nearly 30 cent of every €1 spent on National Lottery games goes straight back to Good Causes - sport, youth, health, education, arts, heritage and the Irish language among them. Since the Lottery began 39 years ago, that's added up to €7 billion raised, including €239.3 million in 2024 alone. You can read more winner stories over on the official National Lottery winners' stories page.
So, Cork and Offaly - now's the time to check those pockets, coat linings, and glove compartments. And as always, play the National Lottery responsibly, and play for fun.
